Saturday 12 November 2011

It's been a while since our last blog for which I apologise but the studio has been so busy I have barely had time to sit in my new igloo let alone sit at the computer. Boxes have been going in and coming out at all hours of the day - proofs have no sooner appeared then they have been rushed back to the printers for printing into thousands more cards and in general everyone is looking a little tired and emotional.

On the good news front  - Lynsey, despite having a horrid cold this week, has found a wonderful job as a lecturer and researcher at Heriot Watt University. I always said she was too intelligent to work here - she was definitely the best tickler of my tummy I've ever come across - so we will be a little bit sad at the end of November when she leaves.

And talking of leaves ...look at this beautiful photo that Shelley took this morning. It really looks spectacular from our studio window.

Friday 21 October 2011

It's the end of a long week in the Pootle studio. Shelley & Lynsey have been munching their way through a pile of chocolate brownies (and not sharing them with me), Shelley has been attempting to design wrapping paper but so far has thrown away more designs than she keeps while I have been very busy working -  please refer to photo above!

In between all this we have been stocking up on glitter and cardboard packing boxes and more glitter. We have also been trying to decide which cards to have made in to posters for next years trade fairs. Personally I think 6 huge pictures of me would look best but Shelley seems to believe people would rather see posters of her cards! Very odd.

We are also excited because Shelley's sister, Gilly, is coming to visit us next week. This means that Shelley will be rushing around all weekend tidying the place up (something she never does when its just us here). I love it when the house is spic and span although I do fear sometimes that I'm going to get hoovered up.

Another day, another delivery. Just when I thought Shelley & Lynsey had tidied the studio up to my satisfaction look what arrived....50,000 cards! I'm a very svelte cat but even with my slim waistline I can barely squeeze between all this mess. On the bright side the studio is now a very good place to hide all my mices.
Unfortunately while the boxes were being delivered Shelley fell over (she's not very graceful) and banged her head and now says she is suffering from concussion. Apparently she went to Accident & Emergency to get this diagnosis but if you ask me she was probably down the pub. Meanwhile I held the fort and made sure the business kept running smoothly. Here is a picture of me contemplating what to design next.

And here are a few more boxes for you to enjoy. Guess I better get tidying!

VAT!

I always know that it's a bad day in the office when I have to cover my ears with my paws. Today Shelley was working on a VAT return and it was not a pretty site (nor sound). Lot's of moaning and sighing (not one purrrr all day) - really it's more than a cat can bear! Looking on the bright side I caught 3 mice today so it wasn't all bad.

Off to see if I can bag a fourth!

Another Day in the Studio

The good thing about being the boss is that I get to delegate so today I told Shelley she had to design some new cards (she's so slow it's painful to watch) while Lynsey has been packing boxes to ship out to all our lovely customers. Here is one of Shelley's designs of an elephant  It's quite good as far as it goes but I really think a cat would have made a much better picture.
Anyway, here is another photo - this time of our stock room. Slightly concerned that I won't be able to fit inside it soon but it's nice to see all our cards so beautifully arranged (thank you Lynsey for being such a good organiser).
And finally here is a photo of the view from the studio this morning. Quite magnificent I think you'll agree.

Okay off for a deserved snoooooze.

Oh, in case you were wondering....

Cat Flapping

It has only taken me a year to learn how to get through my cat flap, which I think is marvellous progress.
I shall be letting you know of all my adventures and all the silly things my owner pet Shelley get's up to in the Pootle studio.

Right oh, off to bag a mouse
