TOP DRAWER 13 -15 JANUARY

Shelley & Lynsey will be at Top Drawer on Stand C14 . They would love to see you there, but if you can't make it and would like to receive a new 2013 catalogue please get in touch and we can pop one in the post.

Saturday 1 December 2012

It has been almost a year since my last blog and so much has happened! First & foremost I've caught well over 50 mices + 2 bats + 1 mole, not bad for a rather portly four-legged fellow!!! However I suppose you're more interested in what's been going on in the Pootle studio? Well, it's been the busiest of years with so many orders coming in that, at times I don't think Shelley quite knew what way to turn.
However, finally Shelley got her act together and she now has two fantastic helpers in the office, Gillian & Mirian, who have transformed her life so that she now has time to create lots of lovely new stuff! If you don't believe me just have a look at the website, she's created a new range of 30 cards called 'Vintage Wonderland' and added 4 stunning new wrapping paper designs plus some pretty fancy new social stationary such as Pirate and Fairy Invites. In addition to this Shelley has also been working extremely hard on two top-secret licensing agreements which have kept her busy well into the wee small hours of the morning for quite some time! Now however she is taking a well-earned break, in fact as I write this she is snoring away beside a roaring log fire having consumed a rather large glass of whisky. Think I'll go and join her!

If you want to meet Shelley in person she will be at Top Drawer 13 - 15th January on STAND C14.

2012!
Apologies for the late arrival of this blog! I think we have a time thief at the Pootle studio - days disappear and no one seems to know where they have gone.
Never mind...it's all go here once again with Shelley busy preparing to go to Top Drawer in London. In fact it's absolute mayhem as she is trying to work out how to get a whole stand's worth of products etc in a suitcase so that she can take it on the train. Personally I would have hired a truck but not Shelley. She seems determined to turn herself into a donkey and drag everything there herself.
Of course the studio is very quiet without the wonderful Lynsey. However before she left she gave us this cute little chap. We have called him Wonder Piddle! He is VERY versatile and we love him to pieces. If you're very lucky you might even spot him on our stand at Top Drawer.
Okay - time to go again - have to see if I can squeeze myself into that suitcase....

Saturday 12 November 2011

It's been a while since our last blog for which I apologise but the studio has been so busy I have barely had time to sit in my new igloo let alone sit at the computer. Boxes have been going in and coming out at all hours of the day - proofs have no sooner appeared then they have been rushed back to the printers for printing into thousands more cards and in general everyone is looking a little tired and emotional.

On the good news front  - Lynsey, despite having a horrid cold this week, has found a wonderful job as a lecturer and researcher at Heriot Watt University. I always said she was too intelligent to work here - she was definitely the best tickler of my tummy I've ever come across - so we will be a little bit sad at the end of November when she leaves.

And talking of leaves ...look at this beautiful photo that Shelley took this morning. It really looks spectacular from our studio window.

Friday 21 October 2011

It's the end of a long week in the Pootle studio. Shelley & Lynsey have been munching their way through a pile of chocolate brownies (and not sharing them with me), Shelley has been attempting to design wrapping paper but so far has thrown away more designs than she keeps while I have been very busy working -  please refer to photo above!

In between all this we have been stocking up on glitter and cardboard packing boxes and more glitter. We have also been trying to decide which cards to have made in to posters for next years trade fairs. Personally I think 6 huge pictures of me would look best but Shelley seems to believe people would rather see posters of her cards! Very odd.

We are also excited because Shelley's sister, Gilly, is coming to visit us next week. This means that Shelley will be rushing around all weekend tidying the place up (something she never does when its just us here). I love it when the house is spic and span although I do fear sometimes that I'm going to get hoovered up.

Sunday 16 October 2011

Another day, another delivery. Just when I thought Shelley & Lynsey had tidied the studio up to my satisfaction look what arrived....50,000 cards! I'm a very svelte cat but even with my slim waistline I can barely squeeze between all this mess. On the bright side the studio is now a very good place to hide all my mices.
Unfortunately while the boxes were being delivered Shelley fell over (she's not very graceful) and banged her head and now says she is suffering from concussion. Apparently she went to Accident & Emergency to get this diagnosis but if you ask me she was probably down the pub. Meanwhile I held the fort and made sure the business kept running smoothly. Here is a picture of me contemplating what to design next.

And here are a few more boxes for you to enjoy. Guess I better get tidying!

VAT!

I always know that it's a bad day in the office when I have to cover my ears with my paws. Today Shelley was working on a VAT return and it was not a pretty site (nor sound). Lot's of moaning and sighing (not one purrrr all day) - really it's more than a cat can bear! Looking on the bright side I caught 3 mice today so it wasn't all bad.

Off to see if I can bag a fourth!
